One licence, one install, one year

There is no per-seat price and no per-user price, because there is nothing for us to count: the software runs on your server and we never see your members. The licence covers the install, the updates for that year and support for that year.

Ask for a licence

Why it is cheaper the more the board is used. It is not: the price does not move at all, and that is the whole difference. A board that attracts ten thousand voters costs what one with ten voters costs, because the cost of running it is your server's and the cost of writing it was ours, once.

What a year buys. Every update released during it, applied from the admin screens, and support on the two paid licences. Havenswift Hosting Ltd is not registered for VAT, so there is nothing to add to either figure. An install whose licence is not renewed keeps running and keeps every row of its data.

Side by side

What each licence covers

The free licence is not a crippled version of the moderation system. That is the part most of the hosted tools charge extra for, and holding it back would make the free tier dishonest about what the product is for.

What the same job costs elsewhere

Read from each vendor's own pricing page on 2 October 2026 and quoted as they publish it. These are better-staffed products with integrations we do not have. The figures are here for the shape of the bill, which is the one thing a self-hosted licence can change.

Product Free tier What it counts Published paid tiers Where the bill goes next
Canny 25 tracked users Tracked users, meaning anyone associated with feedback Pro $79/month billed yearly at 100+ tracked users Business is custom priced from 5,000 tracked users upwards
Featurebase 1 seat Seats, plus $0.49 per AI resolution Growth $29, Professional $59, Enterprise $99 per seat per month billed yearly Every colleague who moderates is another seat
Upvoty None Projects Power $15, Super $25, both one project; Hyper $49 unlimited A second product needs Hyper or a second subscription
Scope Request One board, 50 ideas Nothing £199 or £499 a year, per install Nowhere. It is the same next year, at any number of voters

The honest comparison

If you need Jira, Linear, Intercom or Zendesk wired in, buy one of the hosted tools. They have those and we do not. What they cannot sell is a board whose database sits on your own server.

The honest arithmetic

At one product and a quiet board, a $15 subscription is cheaper than £199. The licence wins once a board is busy, once there are two products, or once the data location matters to someone in your company.

What you are not buying

Not a hosted service, so there is no uptime commitment from us and nothing for us to take offline. The board's availability is your server's availability, which for this buyer is usually the point.

The licence in practice

What happens at the edges

A licence check should never be the reason a customer's public board goes dark, and it never is here. These are the exact rules, written down rather than discovered.

Before you buy

A fresh install runs as an evaluation copy for seven days and says so on every page. There is nothing to cancel and no card to enter.

Once a day

The install posts four fields to the licence server: the key, the hostname, the install path and the version. It stores a signed answer and checks that signature locally.

If we are unreachable

Nothing happens. Our outage is not your outage, and the install keeps the signed answer it already has rather than treating silence as a refusal.

If a licence lapses

Staff are warned a month ahead. At expiry nothing new can be created but the boards keep running. Fourteen days later posting, voting and commenting stop and the board stays readable. Nothing is ever deleted.

Buying one

Tell us the hostname the board will run on and which licence you want. You get a key, you enter it on the licence screen, and that is the whole transaction.
